Serena First Series

The First Expression of Serena

The first production of Serena is limited to twenty-five rider-specific bicycles. Each one is developed as a complete system and carries a permanent handmade identifier unique to that bicycle.

The First Series represents the beginning of a new platform for Scarab. Born from years of riding, designing, and building within the Colombian Andes, it brings together our most complete interpretation of how a climbing bicycle should feel, react, and handle.

Twenty-five bicycles

Individually Identified

Each frame within the First Series carries a permanent handmade identifier unique to that bicycle. The numbering begins with 00/25, the prototype from which the series was developed, followed by the twenty-five bicycles made for their individual riders.

More than a production number, the identifier records each frame’s place within the beginning of Serena. A subtle mark of the time, experimentation, and human work behind the platform.

Climate Gradient

Early morning fog, cold humidity, filtered sunlight through the trees, and the sensation of gradually rising above the clouds became the visual interpretation of the First Series.

The Climate Gradient moves through the changing atmosphere of the Colombian mountains, from tropical valleys to more than 4,200 metres above sea level. Each colour reflects an element encountered along the way: mist, rock, clear air, and the constantly shifting light of the climb.

Rather than functioning as decoration, the paint translates the emotional atmosphere of climbing into colour, depth, and light.

Developed as a Complete System

The First Series is offered exclusively as a complete bicycle. Frame, fork, wheels, drivetrain, cockpit, and contact points are considered together so that every element contributes to the same climbing experience.

The available builds were developed alongside Campagnolo, Darimo, Vittoria, Lightweight, Tune, and Selle Italia. Each partner was selected for components that complement Serena’s balance of low weight, responsiveness, comfort, and precision.

Rather than following a fixed formula, every bicycle is finalized around its rider while remaining true to the intention of the series.

The First Series Builds

Every bicycle within the First Series shares the same component architecture. The build was developed to complement Serena as a complete climbing system, with the final choice of wheelset allowing each rider to shape its character.

Drivetrain: Campagnolo Super Record Ultra, without power meter.
Cockpit: Darimo Nexum Drag integrated cockpit.
Saddle: Selle Italia SLR Racing Replica.
Tires: Vittoria Corsa Pro tires with TPU inner tubes.

The Dynamics of Climbing

Serena emerged from an ongoing exploration of what happens within a climb, and of how a bicycle can support both the desire to attack the mountain and the sensation of floating through it.
